In short

For Assessment Year 2026-27, resident individuals choose between the old tax regime (higher slab rates with deductions such as 80C up to ₹1.5 lakh) and the new regime (lower slab rates, almost no deductions) — most salaried taxpayers pay less under the new regime. ITR filing is due 31 July 2026 for non-audit cases and 21 November 2026 for audit cases (extended by CBDT Circular 07/2026), with advance tax payable in four instalments through the year. This hub covers slabs, regime comparison, ITR filing, TDS, deductions and refunds.
